中国色情-On Monday, Catherine Keener was promoting women filmmakers in downtown New York in collaboration with Chanel and the Tribeca Film Institute. But just three days prior, she was backing another important cause in Washington, D.C.: protesting climate change (which got her arrested).

中国色情-"How I got involved is that I'm fortunate enough to be friends with Jane Fonda," Keener tells BAZAAR.com at the launch of the fifth annual Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program.

      • dyz第一站视频com-On October 11, Fonda launched Fire Drill Fridays, a program inspired by student activists that calls for demonstrations to be held at the capital every Friday to demand urgent action against climate change. She's been arrested four times since starting the initiative, including last Friday, when friends like Keener and Rosanna Arquette joined in.

a资源吧无限看-"I worked with her and we've kept a friendship, and I was actually with her when this idea was born, and I just watched the wheels turn," Keener says of Fonda. Last weekend marked Keener's first time joining a Fire Drill Friday protest in Washington, but she's been passionate about the environment since she was young.

香蕉视频在线观看-"I think that I was gifted by my parents with a very strong love and appreciation of nature. You feel that it answers a lot of desperate questions," she says. "I have a child and I want him to have children. I want his children to have children. I want them to see the mountains I've seen."

a资源吧无限看-Keener and I are seated at a small table for two, a few feet away from the bustle of the swanky luncheon as guests file in, cameras snap, and attendees chat and pluck hors d'oeuvres from various trays. When I pull her aside to chat, she suggests taking up the quiet table by the window, and as we scoot into our chairs, she jokes about wishing she didn't have to wear makeup for the day's event. ("I was like, 'Wait. There are photos?'")

野外性XXXXfreeXXXX-This week, Keener is one of many mentors participating in Through Her Lens, which supports emerging women screenwriters and directors. As a beloved indie legend with decades in the industry under her belt, she knows the importance of uplifting rising talent, especially women.

香蕉视频在线观看-Here, Keener talks to BAZAAR.com about women in film, fighting climate change, and her new show, Modern Love, the romantic anthology series on Amazon Prime Video based on the eponymous New York Times column. Keener had no idea people were obsessing and crying over it. ("I live in a cave," she shrugs.)

dyz第一站视频com-You're a mentor for this year's Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program. Tell me about what that means for you to empower women in this space.

野外性XXXXfreeXXXX-Generally, I really feel that there's a dearth of mentoring right now. I really gained a lot from my mentors, and I had a lot of them, not necessarily in the business or anything, but throughout my life. For me, it's about finding out who you are by learning to say no if you don't necessarily connect to something, to find your voice to say, "I don't really feel it," because I think that one builds confidence and develops how you feel by the process of elimination.

野外性XXXXfreeXXXX-And that's something you were challenged with when you were starting out?

中国色情-I think so. I think that's because you're in an unknown situation and anything looks like an opportunity. Anything that you might be hired for looks like an opportunity, and to some degree, it is. But for me, it was more important to go through the experience, because I did, and then realize that didn't feel good. Or that felt great and to find your place.

a资源吧无限看-I was mentored by just extraordinary people, men and women. I was very lucky and I'm so appreciative, which is why I responded to this. I really appreciated the idea that Tribeca and Chanel are doing this, and I just thought, "That's cool. And I think that's appropriate and it's time to sort of elevate that."

中国色情-What do you think are some ways that we can help get more women in the director's chair?

a资源吧无限看-Hire them! I mean, we all have vastly different experiences in life, and the men have some, women have some, and I think that there's—I hate to be crass—but there's a market for it, and that there are ever-evolving stories from women. I'm super interested in them.

dyz第一站视频com-What was it like on the ground while protesting in D.C.?

a资源吧无限看-I realize that Washington is our place. I knew that, but we have every right to go there and assemble and protest. You know, an act of civil disobedience is necessary in our democracy, and I felt that I should participate in that. Especially for this. There are other things I want to participate in; I mean, I've gone to every Women's March. But I feel that feminism is an integral part of saving the planet, so all of these tributaries go into the same river.

a资源吧无限看-Explain the atmosphere that day. Were people are scared? Was it empowering to be with everyone standing up together?

a资源吧无限看-It was a beautiful day, and I was very aware that these beautiful days could be fleeting. I think everyone was just happy to put themselves out just a little bit. If you have the means to go to D.C., if you're lucky enough to, I feel that if you're in doubt, go.

中国色情-I wanted to talk to you about Modern Love, because I feel like everybody's been talking about it.

        • 香蕉视频在线观看-Really?

          野外性XXXXfreeXXXX-You don't think they are?

          dyz第一站视频com-No, I don't know. I live in a cave.

香蕉视频在线观看-It's funny, there can be big fan bases over streaming shows. People are talking about it online.

        • 野外性XXXXfreeXXXX-Oh, my gosh. Wow. Really? I don't do any social media, so I don't know. Luckily, it's good.

野外性XXXXfreeXXXX-I actually bought the book of essays after watching the series.

          中国色情-You're kidding.

dyz第一站视频com-Because I was like, "I need to," and I was reading them on the train here. They're beautiful.

dyz第一站视频com-Well, I got involved years ago. They asked me to read one of the stories for the podcast, so when this came, I worked for John Carney. Then, I met the woman this is based on. You should interview her. She's amazing. I loved her. She was extremely generous and gave me insight.

中国色情-And then working for John with Dev Patel, who is so alive. It was just a great experience. I'm glad people respond to it. I guess there's another season coming. I'm happy to see people really want to do it. And it's an affirmation or a positive thing, you know?

a资源吧无限看-Do you consider yourself a romantic?

dyz第一站视频com-Probably. In a very sort of pragmatic way. [Laughs.]
